We can upload .mp4 video files via MyFiles and see them in the Home or
other sub-directory. However, when attempting to embed media in a view,
those files are not displayed and cannot be selected. However, the same
file can be uploaded through the "Embed Media" block and then be
played...sometimes. (MyFiles then shows two copies, i.e., file.mp4 and
file.1.mp4)

"Sometimes" because a student attempting to do exactly the same thing finds the upload through the Embed Media block unsuccessful and is presented with the error, "Wrong file type". Student is using Windows XP, Firefox 3.6.12 - this has been observed and verified by several faculty.  Other systems, running the same OS & browser, uploading the same file, is successful.
Success also from Ubuntu system running Firefox.

Server is running Mahara 1.3.3 under FreeBSD 8.0 against PostgreSQL 8.3
via Apache 2.2.15, PHP 5.3.2.

  mp3 files are not recognized for embedding

Bug description:
  I checked the settings for "internalmedia" in Plugins and mp3 files are marked as embeddable. However, the file wouldn't show up in the block "embed media". I think, the file extension isn't recognized. When I make it available for simple download, it just says "File" for file type and it has a generic icon in "My Files".
