Don't use Safari was the advice we gave our students.

To add some flavour to the bug report/feature request, students were required to create a collection and submit it via Moodle.
Currently the Moodle-Mahara Assignment plug-in only accepts one single view, submittiing a multiple view collection would be very labourious.
So to submit a collections, students have to zip and export the collection, then upload the zip to a normal moodle assignment (to meet our assessment regs / date stamp the collection etc).

So - the export screens in Mahara need some new browser dependant instructions I guess?
And the moodle-mahara plug-in needs a feature request?

  Export does not zip on Mac Safari 5.0.x

  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  The Export View, Export Collection and Export LEAP2A functions do not
  produce a zip file when used on Safari 5 on a Mac. Instead it exports
  a directory with content and sub-directories.

  Mahara 1.3.3
  Tested on OSX 10.6.6 (iMac) with Safari 5.0.3
  Also tested on Safari 5.0.1 (as reported by student)

  The same computers export zip fine using Firefox 
  (Have advised student to use Firefox for now).
