Title:
Time delay the deletion of a group
Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
Triaged
Bug description:
When a group is deleted, it is gone forever and its content cannot be
retrieved except from a server backup file under great pains.
The group admin may wish to delete a group (there is already a
wishlist item at bug 962586 to say who has deleted a group), but that
doesn't mean that individual group members may not wish to keep some
artefacts from the group or copy a page into their own portfolio if
they haven't done so already.
Therefore, I propose to be able to delay the deletion of a group as
configurable by a site admin. The site admin could then decide to
delay the deletion of a group by a certain number of hours / days.
This is similar to the warning time for expiry of an account just with
different time frames.
Group members would then receive a notification when the group admin
is about to delete a group they are a member of with the amount of
time they have left to save certain artefacts or pages or even PDFs of
forum discussions.
A second notification is sent when the group has finally been deleted.
When a group admin decides to delete a group, a pop-up notice inform
the admin about the time delay.
Site administrators can overwrite the deletion of a group and delete
it immediately from the admin interface, e.g. when it is an offensive
group and needs to be removed immediately.
