The commented out x-json has been there since the start. Martyn was the
one that put it in, may have to switch and test with a few different
browsers.

  json_headers change to use application/json

Bug description:
  RFC 4627 [1] suggests application/json for json and it whilst it is
  not a 'standard' it seems to be the closest thing to one. See also
  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON

  I'm not sure why plain/text is used - is there some legacy browser
  compatibility issue?
