Hi Teresa,

As a work-around you could create a group to which students submit their
portfolios. Most artefacts are locked upon submission and thus students
can't make changes while the page is assessed. See

  Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this feature request.

  There appears to be a blueprint, Tracking outcomes (Registered on
  2012-04-12), that seems be along the same lines as this feature
  request.

  I am not registering a bug, but a wishlist/feature request.

  This could perhaps be a plugin, or a feature that can be turned off if
  it is not being used by an education institution, or business.

  This feature could generate a simple report on:

  Single users:
  - how many times a user has logged in
  - when they have logged in
  - possibly a summary of activities when logged in

  Pages/Groups/Journals:
  - how many hits/views a page gets
  - by whom
