[Bug 1025503] Re: Profile > web address field accepts web address with spaces

I think spaces and apostrophes in URLs are acceptable, because modern
browsers will just urlencode them when you click on the link. Their
usage can make some URL's more straightforward. For instance if I wanted
to put a link to the Wikipedia article about Las Vegas, I could specify
that as "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las Vegas" (which Launchpad will
probably link incorrectly, thinking that the URL ends at the space ;) ).

The only reason to disallow this would be for security purposes. But
since we sanitize the value before displaying it in the page, I think
we're fine on that front. So I'm going to mark this one "Won't Fix".

Title:
Profile > web address field accepts web address with spaces

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
Hey Guys I am about to start testing the 1.6 features so decided to
start from the top and create a new portfolio.

On the Profile page I was able to add "I don't have a website" in the
field. Shouldn't it be validated so only real web addresses can be
added? Please see attached screen shot and URL: http://myportfolio-
