I think this was an issue created by not running our internal test site
with memcache and so some things were loading treacle slow.

I noticed this morning in chrome the buttons mentioned were white for a
split second before the button background image loaded up then all was
fine.

So this issue can occur if the caching for your site is not set up right
:)

  Logged in as admin

  the hover state of the Create page & copy a page button are displaying white on hover of the element - this seems to be a problem in chrome only.  Other third level menu buttons on other pages are also affected such as profile > collections
