  page editor adds blank block and screen goes black

Bug description:
  If I add an image block using the keyboard it works ok but if I click on image block (rather than click/ then drag) it pops up the 'cell' and 'position' options. 
  If I then click on the cell position and then 'Save' I get the then get the block instance's config.
  I choose the image I want to display and click save there.

  The config form goes and I can see both my image's block and another
  empty block behind the black masking div. The masking div does not
  disappear so now I can not navigate anywhere.

  I can refresh the page to get the blackness to go away but I am still
  left with the extra empty block.
