Title:
  Missing icons on the top right of the system menu bar when using
  startx to enter the desktop

Status in Unity:
  New

Bug description:
  1. Boot to desktop;
  2. Ctrl+Alt+F6;
  3. Stop lightdm
  4. Run: startx

  EXPECTED:
  - Icons are on the top right of the desktop

  ACTUAL:
  - Icons are missing.

  System:
  Ubuntu 14.04
