Hi,

Thanks for the bug report, but the Essentials theme is a custom theme,
not part of the Mahara standard distribution. You'll need to contact the
theme author and ask them to make sure it's compatible with Mahara 1.9.
It appears the author of the Essential theme is Julian Ridden:

  Theme Essential Issue with Navigation Bar (Mahara 1.9)

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  We have recently upgraded to Mahara 1.9 and installed the Essential theme.
  We noticed an issue with the navigation bar, which is very sensitive. 
  For instance, if the mouse is over "Portfolio", we have to be over the first letters to be able to click the items level 2, if the mouse is closed to the last letter and we move the mouse down to click subitems,  subitems disappear..  (issue with CSS ?)

  Are you aware of such issue ?
  Since our users complained about this issue, we decided to disable the option "Drop-down navigation"
