[Bug 1393234] Re: Restrict forum access to certain people

The workaround may be easy but it doesn't have the same functionality.
Here's a use case which must be reasonably common:

* Department of University or High School creates Group to coordinate new ePortfolio policy (perhaps a controlled access group)
* Dept head is admin, other Teachers have tutor role
* Students copy Page template to set up their Portfolio
* They share their senior Portfolio with the group for comments by Teachers (tutors)
* Teachers want to share notes about individual students privately and in the context of the submitted portfolio pages.
* A group Forum is the ideal place to do this. Ideally one would be able to have more than a single Forum per group (in the same way as more than one Journal per user) and a privacy setting for Admins only / Admins + Tutors / Admin + Tutor + Member / Public

Cheers

Title:
Restrict forum access to certain people

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  asked at https://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=6546

If you have a large group of people, you may want to restrict access
to a forum based on their membership role in the group (or maybe even
based on individual names) in order to be more flexible on how to
communicate in the group without having to create separate groups to
  enable separate discussions.
