You can change the number of entries in the block configuration for the
journal. See
http://manual.mahara.org/en/1.10/blocks/journals.html#journal and there
the first screenshot (number 5 in it for "Entries per page").

Bug description:
  After a user has posted X number of blog posts, the blog (within a
  view) could become quite long and difficult to navigate.  It would be
  good if monthly categories could be created (like on blogger).
