[Bug 1363742] Re: Submit a group page to a group
Hm, the tricky thing about this is deciding who gets permission to
submit the page. Because submitting locks the page from editing, so
there are some security implications to it. If multiple study-groups of
students are using the same Mahara group to work on their collaborative
pages, a student from one study-group could submit the page of a student
from another study-group to troll them.
Or for that matter, a user might join an existing group that is for an
entirely unrelated purpose, and then submit one of its pages.
So I guess it would make the most sense if only a group's admin(s) can
submit pages. Then a user study-group could create their own Mahara
group, where they would be the group admin, and submit from that. But I
imagine this would probably lead to a lot of user confusion about, "Why
can't I submit my page?"
Perhaps what would be needed instead, is the ability to make a group be
a "member" of another group? And then if group A allows submissions,
group B must be a member of group A in order for group pages from B to
be submitted to A. Hm, but then that leads all the other nasty
complications of inherited group membership, including potentially
making page permissions even more complicated...

Title:
Submit a group page to a group
Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Wishlist item reported by Stephen Bright from the University of
Waikato:
Students work in groups of 3 and want to be able to submit pages /
collections to a group for assessment without having to copy the page
into one of the users' accounts and then submitting that.
I think there are two things to consider:
1. Submit a group page / collection to the group in which it was created, e.g. when the instructor is tutor / admin in each student group.
2. Submit a group page / collection to a different group. That way, student groups would have their own space and their work could not be changed by other students who are in the same group.
Any other things to consider?
