I think Bug 853662 may need to be backported as the problem with the
images not being created is partly due to the compatibility of newer OS
and the pear graphing library.

If we can backport the js graph stuff it would take care of the need to
generate graph images (using GD) at all.

  I get the following warnings when cron job 'cron_site_data_daily' runs
  - I'm not sure if it's specific to my data / machine / php version
  (which is 5.4) but I thought I'd mention them here in case others were
  having the same problems.

  The failure means that the statistic graphics are not generated.
