[Bug 1725193] [NEW] Unable to change Smart Evidence framework for copied collection
Public bug reported:
Hello,
I've been experimenting with the Smart Evidence functionality. One of the things our staff want to be able to do is have different criteria at different stages of the student journey (eg 1st year matrix is not the same as final year one). The obvious way to achieve that is to create separate matrix files and associate them with a relevant collection of template pages for each stage. The problem arises if a student wants to reuse a page from earlier in their academic career if feedback has been given on the original page.
I thought that making a copy of the original collection and associating it with the new framework would be straightforward, but it give the error:
You cannot change the framework. The following pages have evidence connected to this framework: 'BSc ePortfolio - Home Page v.2' 'BSc ePortfolio - Asset 1 v.2' 'BSc ePortfolio - Asset 1 v.2' 'BSc ePortfolio - Asset 2 v.2'
The same issue would arise if students are asked to submit portfolio
pages as evidence for more than one course subject. I'd propose that
what is needed is a way to unlink the existing framework from a COPY of
a page (I'm happy the original should remain associated with the old
matrix) so that the evidence presented for one purpose can be reused
elsewhere. There are reasons either way for including any feedback
comments that were created as a result of interactions with the previous
version, or wiping it completely. For flexibility, I'd favour including
the feedback on the copied page (students might reflect in year 2 about
feedback they got in year 1) and allow users to delete the blocks if
they want, but not change (edit) the content.
Regards, Gordon.
