Took out the manual variable and replaced with md breakpoint.

  Make the mobile logo appear at a proper break point

Bug description:
  Right now it comes in when the site message is dropped, which is too
  late.

  The mobile logo should appear at the proper mobile break point (the MD
  break point at 768px). That means that the mobile logo is displayed
  when the main navigation switches to the mobile navigation that runs
  across the entire width of the device.
