DESCRIPTION:

Consider including patches global_trx_ids, binlog event checksums and fixes to
crash-proof slaves
from https://code.launchpad.net/~jtolmer/mysql-server/global-trx-ids

First we should investigate if we can do this in a manner compatible with MySQL 5.1.

We want to ensure that we keep a high compatibility between MariaDB and MySQL so
that both can be a drop in replacement to each other when it comes to how data
and logs are stored.
