Rohit Kashyap also showed some interest in this project, and it was discussed
a bit on the maria-developers@ mailing list (Cc:ed). So let's coordinate the
efforts here.

I updated the MDEV-4989 with what was discussed so far, it now better reflects
what the project entails. It also now has some pointers to suggested
background reading.
