[Bug 220448] Re: Tuner not recognized

Hi Scott,

I've got some bad news for you buddy. Me TV is a DVB (digital
television) application. Your card is an analog device. MythTV can do
both but not Me TV. Thanks for your effort in providing as much
information as you can. There's an application called Zapping that you
might like to give a try if you're looking for something like Me TV for
analog cards. It's in the Ubuntu repos last time I checked.

Thanks,

Michael

Status in Me TV, it's TV for me computer: Won't Fix

Bug description:
I just installed me-tv, and I'm having trouble recognizing my tuner card. Upon startup I get the message "No tuner device", and the console output:

Me TV-Message: 04/21/2008 20:14:31 - Me TV Version: 0.5.27
Me TV-Message: 04/21/2008 20:14:31 - Loading glade file '/usr/share/me-tv/glade/me-tv.glade'
Me TV-Message: 04/21/2008 20:14:32 - Creating EPG file at '/home/scott/.me-tv/epg.xml'
Me TV-Message: 04/21/2008 20:14:32 - EPG file loaded
Me TV-Message: Exception message: 'No tuner device'
Me TV-Message: 04/21/2008 20:14:32 - Exception in void Application::init(): No tuner device

I have a PCI-based tuner card (hauppage, but not sure what model number-- I could find out) as /dev/video0. I've previously used it under MythTV, and can also confirm that it works with the command:
cat /dev/video0 > tmp.avi

I first tried using the me-tv package in the ubuntu repositories, but then installed version 0.5.27-2 from lamothe's ppa.
Running Hardy RC on AMD64. I'm not sure how to get a full backtrace, but with a little help, I'd be happy to give it a try. :)
