[Bug 260685] Re: me-tv unresponsive when using a big channels.conf
Yes, this is a known issue. I originally had set Me TV to only load 100
channels max but then I had a request to "relax" that constraint. Me TV
is simply not designed for large channel lists, the EPG cannot handle
it. I haven't isolated where the time is being used up but I imagine
that generating 3000 buttons isn't a quick process.
I should re-enable the 100 channel constraint which would resolve this
bug. There is no solution for this issue other than your blueprint
which is to have bouquets of channels selectable in the interface.

Bug description:
Ubuntu 8.10 development version
Me-TV 0.5.33
DVB-S card
When using dvb-s, Astra 19.2 east and Hotbird 13e are two satellite positions that are widely used in Western Europe. Each of these satellites broadcasts over 1000 channels.
Me-Tv becomes quite unresponsive when using a huge channel-list; it takes very long to start up; opening the EPG takes very long,...
A work around for the user is to only keep the few channels that are of interest to him in the channel list; but I hope that it will be possible to really speed up the channel handling. (Maybe that it will require separating channel switching and epg)
