This is the way it used to be and I think that I agree with you however
others do not.  By your logic you are saying that totem should call
itself "Totem" in the menu rather than "Movie Player".  Whatever your
preference is, this is not a bug, it's intentional.

Bug description:
After installation, the menu item says "Digital Television" which should better be "Me TV", as the latter is what it is.

Although "Me TV" appears in the file /usr/local/share/applications/me-tv.desktop, it is the value of "GenericName" instead of "Name".

OS: Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid (Beta) Kernel 2.6.27-4-generic
