i had a problem, it was a wrong setup in my settings, here's how i
corrected it. Open up the Terminal(top left screen,
Applications/Accessories/Terminal. Type "alsamixer" without the
quotations and press enter. Press F4 on your keyboard, this will bring
you to Capture. Press the right button till you get to "Input Source"
and press up or down till you reach the microphone you want. I wanted
the one built into my laptop so i used "Internal Mic". I hope this helps
