Blinking as a sole means of alerting the user to an event is a no-no,
the pulsing while connecting animation is just sort of showing that the
program is in a transition state of 'connecting'. This is pretty
similar to the dots that change color 1-by-1 during start up and shut
down.
Confirmed. An indicator should not flash for an indefinite period, but
an animation, or transition, is acceptable. Examples are:
- the sound indicator going red when muted and sound tries to play
- the network indicator animation during connection
