The indicator should probably convey the cumulative progress so you can just flick a glance in the corner and get an idea of the progress without having to click or even move the mouse.

It would be really cool if the icon changed colour to show this... for example starting really dark blue, getting brighter as the progress moves on, then turning green at the end to indicate completeness.
