that's what i meant.
We're already showing mouse, ipod and other chargeable devices here, that's why i suggested offering "remove safely" here, too, it just seemed convenient to me:
an indicator that always shows a hardware or periphery device related symbol such as an ipod, mouse or laptop battery..

If the power menu *was* obviously device-oriented, that might work for
external hard disks and CD drives that have lots of blinking lights and
are obviously powered.
But what proportion of people who use USB keys understand that it's
possible to "power them on and off", do you think?
