IMHO this could resolve some real problems of usability..

What are the problems ? keyboard shortcuts ?
(some of the problems cited in are�only�found in OSX, ubuntu window management is a little bit different)

If you have many windows and you want to place them, you may want to get the grid which is a basic concept of zoomable user interfaces (zui). you have all the space filled, and all windows in front of you to be placed.
In aza's model, you have gaps everywhere, so in cases other than with keyboard shortcuts it doesn't look good.
