Found out to be a bug in an alias group functioning as an alias and
intercepting the commands

Ubuntu 8.10
Mudlet suddenly did not send input to the MUD, but mud output is still being received. Restarting the program does not solve the problem. Gnome-Mud can send input to the MUD, so it is not a MUD problem.
