Bug description:
It would be really useful if our input line was completemented with limited auto-expansion. Instead of having all your text scroll off as you're typing more, it should grow bigger and wrap the text - so if you typed two lines, you'd see the two lines.

Of course, if it gets too big, scrollbars should appear and it shouldn't grow longer.

This is implemented in Pidgin, so I'm attaching a video. Note that by default their input line is like 2 lines in height - we should still keep ours one line.
