Feedback: 0.7.0 open issues/release blocker
Hi all!
So, the time has come. The 0.7.0 release is looming.
I would very much like to get your feedback on what you see as a
blocker for an 0.7.0 release, because I seriously want to get it out,
both in source and binary form (the latter being easier on people to
test/play with).
Binary releases will be self-contained, i.e. ship with all the
necessary libraries in binary form so you don't have to mess with your
package manager.
So far, I have one item that's waiting on me: Adding back the CMake
stuff to build on Windows. That's currently not done, just because I'm
severely resource starved.
Please, please, please take a look at your bug reports over at
bugs.mysql.com and see if something you reported is not fixed yet. If
it's still in Open/Verified ping the list with a link (or add a
comment) and we can dicuss if it should hold up the release (releases
are cheap as long as we are not 1.0, we can always build 0.7.1 ;))
Pending availability of the necessary build machines at the time we'll
release binaries for all major platforms.
The source will naturally be available on Launchpad on the download
page, but the binaries will likely live on mysql.com due to the size
and number of them. I'm not sure if it's a smart idea to litter
Launchpad with those but I might be swayed if it turns out to be
painless.
cheers,
-k
