the mythtv-status issue is a different one.  There's some bugs filed on
that already.  You can enable -testing from the autobuilds (see MCC to
turn it on if you need) to fix that.

So as for your error here, did you manually go purging in /etc at some
point?

You're missing a conffile that the postinst expects to continue:

Status in “mythtv” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed

Bug description:
Binary package hint: mythtv

The original installation was from a MythBuntu installation disk - I don't know for sure which version as I have several machines and have done multiple upgrades.  I was doing the upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10 as offered by tthe Adept upgrade manager and it said that it could not load the upgrade for the mythtv database.  I'm not sure that the failure to install the Myth Database is actrually a bug or not, however, as this machine is used as a MythTV Front End and a MythTV Slave backend so the mythtv database is not on this machine -- it is on the master backend system.
