Bug description:
I reported this upstream ( http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/6509 ) - but it was suggested on the list that it may be limited to Mythbuntu; so, I am reporting here. Hopefully someone can confirm or fix the problem.
Hi. I have mythbox with a backend/frontend setup. I have run mythtv-setup on the backend and have enabled VBI. When I playback media on the backend (which also has a frontend) captions work great.
However, I have laptops that I have just frontends on and the closed captions don't work on all channels - They work on NBC/PBS but not on ABC/FOX (it may be related to the show). I can turn them on in the menu when playing a video but nothing shows up. I have fiddled with every setting in the OSD settings, but nothing works.
So, captions work on ALL channels on the backen box, but only on some channels in the frontend boxses.
