I really have no idea. But my best guess is, that this happens from
mythfrontend. See

Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV: Incomplete
Bug description:
After a clean boot, MythTV is not using the LCD display. I have to kill mythlcdserver manually (why is there no init/upstart script for it?) and restart it, to get the LCD being used by the MythTV frontend/backend.
