[Bug 622920] Re: Intersil ISL3887 cannot connect to wireless network with latest Ubuntu

Howdy, and thank you for helping to improve Ubuntu by opening this
ticket. Is there any way to try either with 10.04 on the current
machine, or on the old machine with 10.04.1 to help determine if this is
truly a regression?

Status in “linux-firmware-nonfree” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: linux-firmware-nonfree

Sagem XG703A USB WLAN-adapter cannot connect to wireless networks with WEP encryption when using latest Ubuntu. I was able to connect when using another machine and Ubuntu 10.04 image but with 10.04.1 I am unable to connect even if the machine is only couple meters away from wireless router.

Motherboard is MSI K7T Turbo with VIA KT133 or VIA KT133A chipset. The WLAN adapter can see the network and password is asked but it cannot connect. In order to get the card to be detected I had to install linux-firmware-nonfree. Ndiswrapper does not work either, same thing happens.
