[Bug 635675] Re: package lirc 0.8.6-0ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade:

I have been trying to install applications with software centre and
synaptic but with no luck. Always ends with the same error.

I have noticed a slow down with mozilla firefox. Scrolling up and down a
page is very slow. Even switching from the application menu back to the
web browser seems to take way longer than before, around 3/4 seconds.

Bug happened when automatically upgrading ubuntu 9.1 to ubuntu 10.04

The update manager window popped up and i decided to upgrade the distribution.
The error occurred one first time while installing the upgrades but the process continued.
Then it happened again at the very end of the "installing the upgrades" process. this time it interrupted the whole upgrade process and the following message is displayed:

>>Could not install the upgrades
>>
>>The upgrade is now aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).
