I had the same problem with Xorg crashing when watching 1080i video only
-- strangely, not 720p or SD. I switched from whatever the default
profile was to "Slim" and that worked perfectly. Thanks!

Status in “mythtv” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: mythtv-frontend

Release:  10.10 beta
Version:  0.23.1+fixes26192-0ubuntu1
When attempting to play video, either live tv or recordings made on the backend, X crashes and GDM restarts.  There is no video playback at all.  I can reproduce the issue on both of my frontends.  One is running an ATI video card, the other is Via so I do not believe the instability is related to the video driver.
