Message #03587
[Bug 674837] Re: mythtv 0.24 frontend does not find videos in the media library
Streamlining is good, but why then not scan automatically every time you
access the videos, avoiding confused users? Now that I know that I need
to do this, it is easy enough (but not streamlined).
The problem got worse for me when after long fiddling without a result I
looked into the log files and saw the upnpmedia lines and the table of
the same name being filled at every start of the backend (see orignal
description above).
This line is no longer appearing; instead it now says in the mythbackend.log:
2010-11-14 21:13:38.851 UPnpMedia: BuildMediaMap - no VideoStartupDir set, skipping scan.
Well, I did not remove any VideoStartupDir and have no clue what it is.
Furthermore, I emptied the upnpmedia table manually, and it remains
empty, yet the mythvideo shows all videos present and includes coverart
and what have you (nice). I guess some deprecated code for upnpmedia is
left in the backend?
With this manual scan "workaround" this bug can be closed. But I really
would like to point you to my Bug #671875 report - the duplication of
capture cards and cardinputs does persist, even in released 0.24

Status in “mythtv” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: mythtv
mythtv 0.24 frontend released version with fixes 27204 does not find any videos although directories are set correctly. file and directory permissions are set sufficiently, also evidenced by the fact that the backend finds them correctly
from the backend log file:
2010-11-13 09:33:14.620 UPnpMedia: BuildMediaMap VIDEO scan starting in :/home/videos/video:
2010-11-13 09:33:14.704 UPnpMedia: BuildMediaMap Done. Found 90 objects
also, as verified with phpmyadmin, the mysql table upnpmedia does contain all videos correctly.
this is a regression from previous mythtv versions (0.23, .22, .21) where this worked correctly
