Title:
mythbuntu freezes when starting playback
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Fix Released
Bug description:
After today's update, I can't get playback working on most of my
frontends. On my combined backend/frontend, any attempt to play a
recording freezes showing the "starting playback" message. The
mythfrontend.log file has this line every 25 or so seconds while it's
frozen:
Player(0): Timed out waiting for free video buffers.
This is on an AMD-64 machine with Nvidia 6200 graphics. I'm using the
MythTV-Updates repository. mythfrontend --version machine shows this:
MythTV Version : v0.24-162-g0ddc3f2
MythTV Branch : fixes/0.24
Network Protocol : 63
Library API : 0.24.20101129-1
QT Version : 4.7.0
Options compiled in:
linux debug using_alsa using_jack using_oss using_pulse using_pulseoutput using_backend using_bindings_perl using_bindings_python using_dvb using_firewire using_frontend using_hdhomerun using_hdpvr using_iptv using_ivtv using_joystick_menu using_lirc using_mheg using_opengl_video using_opengl_vsync using_qtdbus using_qtwebkit using_v4l using_x11 using_xrandr using_xv using_bindings_perl using_bindings_python using_mythtranscode using_opengl using_vdpau using_ffmpeg_threads using_live using_mheg
I have several other frontends that show different symptoms. On my
laptop (Intel graphics), the audio plays fine, but I see only a blue
screen. On an older machine with Nvidia 5200 graphics, mythfrontend
repeatedly crashes and restarts immediately on startup. Only my P3
500MHz machine with Gforce 4 graphics actually works, possibly because
I haven't upgraded it recently.
