Title:
Stereo through digital output fails
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Expired
Bug description:
After operating Mythbuntu 8.10 for some time audio stops working for
non-AC3 audio from MP3s and Firefox.
TV audio works regardless but the tuner card was installed after the
audio failed. After looking throughout the mythbuntu thread in
www.ubuntuforums.org I found this thread
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=991219&highlight=digital+stereo).
I used the fixed mentioned in that thread and it worked for me, MP3s
now play. That fix is as follows:
sudo mv /etc/init.d/alsa-utils /etc/init.d/alsa-utils.old
"reboot"
sudo mv /etc/init.d/alsa-utils.old /etc/init.d/alsa-utils
alsamixer
"Then reset the volume levels on your sound card as everything will be muted."
sudo alsactl store
I don't understand the problem and I cannot cause the failure on
command but will have to wait for it to fail again.
My audio card is:
