  according to backend recording continues but video file is no longer
  written to

Status in “mythtv” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: mythtv-backend

  This has happened every week since I have upgraded to natty.  This has
  happened to one or two other shows, but it happens every week to
  house.  House (a one hour episode) is the only show recording from
  7-7:30PM.  At 7:30, Mad Love starts recording.  The frontend (and
  backend log) says that house continues to record until completion, but
  the video file on playback only contains 29:58 of recorded data.  I've
  triple checked all the settings in the backend-setup.  This never
  happened in previous versions of mythtv/kubuntu.
