[Bug 490229] Re: Skip-ahead hangs frontend
Marking incomplete as this release isn't supported anymore. Can anyone
confirm that this issue is still present on a supported Mythbuntu/MythTV
release?

Title:
Skip-ahead hangs frontend
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Incomplete
Bug description:
9.10 with latest Mythbuntu MythTV 0.22 updates as of today. Frontend
on Intel-based netbook (N270 Atom + Intel IGP), backend over wireless
network with NFS mounts for recordings.
Using 'Skip-ahead' sometimes works, but more normally it causes the
frontend to completely lock up, so that I can't exit using the
keyboard, can't 'Close' it from the taskbar menu, and have to manually
kill it from the command line.
The frontend log is full of stuff along the lines of:
NVP(0), Prebuffer wait timed out 6160 times.
NVP(0), Error: Timed out waiting for prebuffering too long. Exiting...
NVP(0), Error: Video frame buffering failed too many times.
Repeated every two seconds.
Which, you know, is fine in a way because I don't expect the wireless
connection to be too reliable; I can live with a few glitches and
dropped frames. However, this locks up the entire frontend
permanently, so that it completely stops interacting with the user.
That part is a major problem... there must be a better way of dealing
with timeouts.
