[Bug 859569] Re: confilct with firmware-b43-lpphy-installer wireless stops working

in the oneiric kernel doesn't support new tx header on b43 and 5.100.138
firmware requires that feature

anyway lastest old tx supported firmware source can download here but requires b43-fwcutter-0.15 for extraction

Title:
confilct with firmware-b43-lpphy-installer wireless stops working

Status in “linux-firmware-nonfree” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have a broadcom 4312 chip that requires firmware to be loaded in order for the wireless card to work. Under regular Ubuntu with Unity, I opt out of using the b43 driver and use the restricted Broadcom STA wireless driver wl provided by the Additional Drivers application. Unfortunately this driver does not appear after using Kubuntu live CD install, so I installed the b43 driver using the package: firmware-b43-lpphy-installer.
It downloads (I'm connected using the ethernet cable) the broadcom-wl-4.178.10.4.tar.bz2 file from openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.178.10.4.tar.bz2 and extracts the firmware to /lib/firmware/b43/ folder.
  After this my wireless works.

The latest version of linux-firmware-nonfree version 1.11 for Oneric Ocelot includes all firmware files:
  linux-firmware-nonfree (1.11) oneiric; urgency=low

    * Get _all_ of the b43 firmware files.
      http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware
        wget http://www.lwfinger.com/b43-firmware/broadcom-wl-5.100.138.tar.bz2
        tar xjf broadcom-wl-5.100.138.tar.bz2
        b43-fwcutter -w . broadcom-wl-5.100.138/linux/wl_apsta.o

  linux-firmware-nonfree (1.10) oneiric; urgency=low

    * Added b43 firmware files now that the in-kernel driver
      is becoming more capable.

This overwrites the files from firmware-b43-lpphy-installer package
and upon reboot I am not able to connect using wireless. The wifi
light on the laptop lights up but I can't connect using network
manager, there is no list of available networks.

I removed linux-firmware-nonfree and reinstalled using command:
  sudo apt-get install --reinstall firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
after a reboot wireless works again.
