Title:
mythcommflag causes 100% CPU Usage
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Invalid
Bug description:
MythBuntu 11.04 running as a standalone MythTV backend server on an
Intel i7 CPU with 4 Gb RAM and about 6 Tb of disk space.
When Mythcommflag runs, the server seems to become CPU bound with
multiple CPU cores running at 100%. Performance of the backend
mythbuntu server declines to the state where the server is unable to
serve up recordings to the front end mythbuntu media centre at the
same time that mythcommflag is running. When this problem is
occurring on the MythBuntu backend, the frontend Mythbuntu PC usually
fails with a "No uPNP" error when it tries to connect to the MythBuntu
backend server. This backend/frontend combination has worked OK on
the same hardware for MythBuntu 10.04, and 10.10. It's only 11.04
where this problem has become apparent.
At times there are three (3) or more mythcommflag processes running
concurrently on the backend, when only a single recording has been
made that day. Those three or more processes cause three or more of
the eight CPU cores to go to 100%, whilst the remaining CPU cores will
be idle or near idle.
I'm happy to provide copies of whatever log files you might require.
Same if you want me to run any diagnostics or try any config changes
for you in relation to this potential bug. I'm happy to oblige......
Hopefully, I haven't done (or omitted to do) something when I've set
this system up.
Regards,
Roy
