This is probably related to bug #1010491 in that the backend in 0.26 needs timezone data in mysql and fails to start without it. And if there isn't a backend, then the frontend will have issues and crash.

Bug description:
  After I updated and rebooted, my Frontend kept crashing and rebooting.

  Using 12.04.1 daily build
  Version 0.26
  Expecting to be able to launch Frontend
  Crashed completely
