[Bug 1214137] Re: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6306/7/8 Firewire connected to set-top box for MythTV periodically stops working
mythtv-users mailing list post with some logs, info at http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2013-July/351209.html
Have verified that a clean install of 12.04.2 still suffers from this issue.
Currently testing the patch applied to my kernel using the instructions
from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/BuildYourOwnKernel

Title:
VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6306/7/8 Firewire connected to set-top box
for MythTV periodically stops working
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
New
Bug description:
My system, which was working under 10.04 with the old kernel firewire
stack was stable and working, however after upgrading to Mythbuntu
12.04.2 it periodically dies.
It appears this kernel.org commit may resolve the issue
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/firewire?id=be8dcab942e1c0ec2aa13eb2af2a79ab51b46293
I'm hoping it can be integrated into the Mythbuntu kernel sources.
