To fix a crash we need a backtrace with mythtv-dbg installed. Apport should offer you to file a bug for the crash. (Instead of manualy filing a bug via Apport, but without the crash data)
The only thing in common between all crashed (mythfrontend.log, last line before the new instance starts with a new process is) is the idle timer:

But MythMusic has seen some tender loving care since 0.25. Is this still
an issue with latest fixes/0.26 or the upcomding 0.27?

  0.25 mythmusic crashes on normal use

Bug description:
  this happened in all previous releases from 0.23 up. i hoped it would be fixed by now. just selecting some tracks and hit play, it crashes as often as not..
  really, this sort of regular crashes drive me to think i may be better of with xbmc. . .
