FYI: The swedish "Paketet är i ett väldigt dåligt inkonsistent läge - du
bör ominstallera det innan du försöker ta bort det." probably means "The
package is in a bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall before you
try to remove it".

In this state the system could not be rebooted. Boot is ok, but it cannot shut down, it hangs.
I managed to remove lirc by killing the lircd daemon, remove /etc/lirc and the startup script, cut power and reboot. Then uninstall using synaptic.
