[Bug 1323777] Re: /dev/dvd and /dev/dvdrw symlinks no longer created
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 208-7ubuntu4
---------------
systemd (208-7ubuntu4) utopic; urgency=medium
* Lower Breaks: to lvm2 again. Our lvm2 package has always used udev for
device setup, and thus should be compatible with systemd, too.

Title:
/dev/dvd and /dev/dvdrw symlinks no longer created
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Confirmed
Status in “systemd” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
With a fresh Mythbuntu 14.04 installation AMD 64 bit combined
frontend/backend , there are two issues with the internal DVD player.
1. It fails with the message: “failed to open device /dev/dvd”.
In 12.04 there was a link /dev/dvd -> /dev/sr0 which was created at each reboot.
This link is missing in 14.04. Creating it with ‘sudo ln’ allows frontend to play DVDs but the link is removed at next reboot.
A more lasting workaround is:
Frontend > setup > Media settings > Videos settings > Player settings > DVD Drive changed from /dev/dvd to /dev/sr0
2. Ejecting media fails with error message: “no devices to eject - media monitor”
It does this with either the /dev/dvd link in place or with the settings changed as abov
