You may have purged the database package, but the database still exists
in mysql. You'd have to wipe that out too.

  Purge Myth as best I could before trying fresh install.  Same old.  What am I doing wrong?
  My Mythtv used to work brilliantly.  I could schedule recording from Work etc.
