[Question #185976]: icons and theme changed and won't return to default

After installing MyUnity the icons, fonts and theme changed to something other than "Ambience" (not sure what it is; looks old and ugly), and I cannot get my system to return completely to the defaults ("Ambiance" & "Ubuntu-mono-dark") or any other theme, for that matter. Some parts of windows are "Ambiance" but mostly everything is this other theme. The Home Folder, Firefox and the top panel are completely in this theme, only. Another curious thing is that my laptop's hardware slider for volume control no longer works. Please help me or else I will have to do a complete re-install! I noticed afterwards in the reviews, that I am not the first person to have this problem. Is there some way to fix this?
