[Bug 1013959] Re: MyUnity window always shows in 2nd (wrong) monitor
Nice!
But... is it really necessary to force a position? Why not just let the
window manager position it? I personally don't care, but some users may
be upset if MyUnity does not respect whatever setting is configured in
compiz/metacity "Place Windows"
Another question: is there a PPA to stay updated with MyUnity? The
version in Ubuntu Software Center is 3.1.3, and I noticed in the
development page there is a 3.1.4. But I can't find the .deb package for
the 3.1.4, just a tar.gz

Title:
MyUnity window always shows in 2nd (wrong) monitor
Status in MyUnity:
New
Bug description:
And I'm afraid the culprit is that MyUnity ignores compiz settings on
window placement and always forcefully shows in center of the virtual
desktop, which in my case happens to be close to the "border" between
the 2 monitors, and ends up showing on 2nd monitor (the one on the
right), presumably to avoid overlapping its launcher.
And there is no way to workaround this: no matter how I mess in CCSM's
settings (and its "Place Windows" plugin), MyUnity always shows in the
exact same position.
The only "solution" so far seems to be to set my 2nd monitor's
resolution to something very smaller than 1st monitor low (like
1024x768, compared to 1920x1080), so the center of the desktop is
"inside" 1st monitor enough to accomodate MyUnity's width.
This is a *very* annoying behavior, please fix this: do NOT force a
position, that is what window managers are for.
Thanks!
PS: Using Ubuntu Precise 12.04, MyUnity 3.1.3 from Software Center
